Severe trauma during my training for spokes of hope 2010

on 10/2/10 i suffered a freak accident while riding my bike and fell and had severe cervical spinal cord trauma. i almost died but am now at Mt Sinai hospital spinal cord rehabilitation unit. the last month has been hellacious. my beloved daughter without whom I could not have survived is writing this for me. i have made some progress in the past week so I am trying very hard to be positive but it is very difficult. i dont know when i will be able to post next but i truly miss talking to all my fellow kidney cancer survivors. because of the trauma i have had to stop my chemotherapy and i am not sure what will happen. hopefully i will be able to report back with better news soon.

Thanks to you and your daughter for your posting. Almost everyone on the List has been asking about your status and we are all praying for a full and complete recovery for you. You are an incredibly strong person and have helped so many of us cope with our disease. We all wish there was somnething we could do to help you through this but be assured we believe that you can do this and have a good outcome. You are in our daily prayers.

Like so many of us I was very concerned for you over your recent accident. I have been checking your blog daily in hopes that you would be posting again. It was such a great feeling to see your post, through your beloved daughter!! As you have handled so many challenges in the past I know you will be successful with this latest one. I am looking forward to working with you again this Spring for our annual Lobbying in Washington. Take care of yourself and please ask your daughter to keep us posted when she is able.
    Kindest regards, Mike Kasper
